DEAR SELF, I WANT TO TRAVEL WITH YOU

Dear self, I want to travel with you when the weather is good; when the sun shines the brightest and the moon illuminates our path in the forest. I want to give names to the clouds as they shape into different imagery—dancing with the wind above. I want to lay down in meadows and just breathe in the flowers around us; laughing while blowing dandelions. I want to sing to the butterflies as we envy their cunning wings. I want to explore tree hollows with you while sharing faery stories.I will take pictures, lots and lots of them—it will be focused on us giving the Zabrinus grass a slight blur. I want to trace constellations with you and wish upon the stars. I want to catch fireflies and hand it to you as a reminder that you light up amidst the dark. I want to wake up and admire the sunrise with you. I want to travel with you when we’re both at the best of moods.

Dear self, I want to travel with you when the weather is bad; when the sun shines a faint glow in the morning and the rain pouring down at noon. I will make you a cup of coffee as we snuggle inside—a book in hand. I will travel with you inside these stories as we both break into guffaws and into tears. I want to stay in the house with you reading old letters; looking through old photographs and reminiscing whatever memory it holds. I want to travel with you inside the TV series you are so engrossed about because you can relate with the characters so much. I will make you a sandwich as you turn your thoughts into words. I will travel with you when the rain stops and we can finally run outside and drive away. But knowing us, of course we didn’t wait for it to cease. We let ourselves be drenched—shivering as the wind blows hard. We drove through the wet pavement listening to Reflection—each raindrop thumping with the beat. I will travel with you towards the ocean—when both the waves and the sunset are calling as over. Petrichor, our favorite scent, drowning us in nostalgia. I want to travel with you when we’re both feeling down and sad.

Dear self, I want to travel with you in all seasons; in all countries. I will travel and write poetry with you—until we can publish a whole book. I want to travel with you when the Earth looks green and even when the trees are losing its leaves. I want to travel with you and not feel sorry for myself for being alone in the busiest city in the world; in the most unfamiliar of places trying out different cafes. I want to travel with you without the feeling of being cold and lonely. Our soul is enough to keep us warm. I want to travel with you because being with you can sometimes be the happiest of times. Somehow, it feels enough. I love how tranquil you are. You are both my destination and my home.
